Hi Romane Readers!
Cowboy romance author June Faver and her character Tyler Garrett are joining us. If you love a good contemporary western romance book, don't miss out on this one. Don't you think Tyler is hunky? Oh yes, a man who knows how to wear a cowboy hat.
Tyler is going to share somethings about himself and his dreams.
Hi Tyler,
Thanks for stopping over and spending this warm San Antonio day with us. Please tell us about yourself.
Hi. My name is Tyler Garrett. You can call me Ty. I’m the middle son of a north Texas rancher. My brothers and I grew up on thousands of acres that we knew belonged to our family. We learned to ride and care for our horses at an early age and did all the things kids do...at least farm kids.
And then when I was eight, my mother gave me a guitar for my birthday, and I taught myself to play it...and I sang. I couldn’t stop singing.
My mom was happy. She was always proud of me and encouraged me to sing in church and enter contests. I can see her face now, with tears in her eyes, applauding for me.
My dad, Big Jim Garrett, not so much. He just shook his head and said, “That singin’ stuff is nice and all, but you need to concentrate on your true callin’, boy. You were born to be a rancher. It’s in your blood.”
So, trying to live up to my dad’s expectations, while polishing my natural ability, was pulling me in two different directions.
Don’t get me wrong. I love my father and brothers, but since mom passed away, my father has gotten to be a real hard-ass about my singing. He would be happy if I just hung up the guitar and forgot about it.
But then, Will, my friend in Dallas, has a recording studio and he thinks I can make it big. Will tells me about the Texas Country Star contest and he thinks I have a shot.
Big Jim put his foot down, and we had it out, so I packed up a few things and took off for Dallas, certain that my true future was on stage, entertaining. Or, as my mother used to say, ‘sharing my gift with the world.’
But then, as I was on my way to Dallas, I happened to meet up with the most beautiful woman on the face of the earth. Leah Benton was on the run from a dangerous past. She and her daughter, Gracie, were headed for Leah’s grandmother’s farm, when her old vehicle broke down. I helped them to get to Fern Davis’s ranch, but it was so dilapidated I ended up staying on a few days to help them out. That was enough time for me to lose my heart to the three females.
That’s when I discovered that a neighboring farmer and his goon sons had been trying to bully Fern into selling out cheap. One thing about the Garrett men, we don’t step away from a fight. I was damned sure not going to let that those bastards intimidate the people I had grown to care for.
Just when things were settling down, I had to go to Dallas to cut the demo and make some personal appearances. While I was gone, things went haywire for Leah and her family. She didn’t want to keep me from my dream, so she didn’t reach out to me. But I came back to stand by her side for the final showdown. The issues with my father came to a head about the same time. Now we just need to fight off the bullies, survive the dangerous criminal who has tracked Leah to Texas and find a way to sort out our own happily ever after. Family is everything.
Putting it all on the line for love...
